Goodbye 2009. Hello 2010 and beyond

2009 was a great year. Full of up's and downs. I made a lot of friends. And I lost some friends. I did a lot of things I thought I wasn't going to do and I talked to a lot of people that I thought I would never talk to. I met my best friend in the year 2009.

Alyssa... I love you so much. You're my rock. I can tell you anything. You know me more than I know myself sometimes. we're moving into our 2nd year of friendship. Everyday I appreciate you more and more. And my love for you grows by each day. each hour. each minute, each second. I love you Buttercup.

I mean, I did a lot of things in '09. Went to a lot of places.. Me and my friend Jake got close. He's a good friend of mine. He's kind of like me. Just Puerto Rican, Shorter, and Less good looking. lol. He's a dope dude. We like all the same things for the majority our personalities are just different but he's a cool ass friend. And remember that one time we got stuck downtown at like 4 am? Haha, crazy shit. "Do Something Crazy".

This girl I met. From the second I saw her I knew I had to have her. Her smile, her eyes, her everything is just amazing. I never knew I could feel this way toward one person. She was a minor part of my 2009 but, she will be a major part of my 2010.  She knows how much I'm beginning to care about her. I know the chase for her will be worth it. And I'm gonna be here for her until she tells me she doesn't want me.. Aaya, you're amazing baby. ;D

A lot of people began to dap me up and talk to me in 09. It's like the realized how dope I was. I mean people think I'm cool and shit. I'm not really all that. I mean I just do what I think is interesting. I played varsity football. Hey, we're not that great, so what. Most people can't do what we do. I blog. I mean I wasn't all that dedicated to the blog during some parts of 09 but hey, I'm back now. I like skate culture, I like New Era Fitteds. I like style. I appreciate the people I met in 09.

Like my favorite freshman Oona aka Uno. ;) She's sweeter than skittles. She's dope. I'm glad me and her are becoming friends. She's very laid back and chill. She kinda reminds me of the girl version of myself a little lol. But overall she's a great girl and I'm interested in seeing where our friendship will go.

My good friend Morgan Carter.. What can I say about her. We just started talking over the summer randomly. I think she's amazing. That goes to show that you really can't judge a book by its cover. I heard a lot of things about her. And despite all of that nonsense I love her. I'm sure she loves me too.. At least I hope she does. Me and her get along quite well because she's a real ass person. She'll tell you how it is in a second. And I'm real too. Because I do me. She's going to be one those people that are friends for a while.. maybe even a lifetime.

My BROTHERS on the football team. Yeah, brothers. I go to war with you guys and against you guys. We spend a lot of time together and hopefully our Senior season goes better than our Junior season. I want ya'll to know in 2010 I'm going to be lifting my ass off with you guys to get to a higher goal. And let's get some championship rings.

My new good friend Abbie. I love her so much. We have some good talks and she's always taking me shopping with her. She's a good contrast for me. But we connect on a different level. ily Abigail. ;)

Shoutout to all of my ex's, hook-ups, and crushes in 2009. You all taught me some things. Taught me some valuble information. And I'm grateful. Thanks for the learning experience.

My bro Chris Mitchell.. Man, you already know what it is. Goodluck in 2010.

My brother Xavier. Man, I can say I love you like a brother. And I don't need to add no homo to that man.

My good buddy Kristen aka Krissie Poo! Boy, I love her. She's amazing. I'm always happy to talk to her and I'm always willing to help her. She's amazing. And I want her to know that. We even watched pbs kids one day together... Now that's a good friend. 2010 is gonna be good to you Krissie. I love you mama.

Shoutout to the people on twitter!

I'm sorry to anyone I forgot. But I'm sure you know either I love you or I appreciate you. You are apart of who I am and have inspired what I do. And I thank you a million times.

Best Of The Year

See usually making lists of the year is difficult, but not this year. Everything was clearcut for me. Everyone who was dope was dope. And if it was whack, it got thrown away.

But this here, is the BEST OF THE YEAR List. This is compiling MY favorite things of 09.

Albums Of The Year

10.) ONLY BUILT FOR CUBAN LINX Pt. II. - Raekwon. This album was sick! I liked the overall vibe to it. It had the nuts to go up against BP3 and it gave a few good punches. Raekwon definitely knows what to do when he gets in the studio

9.) 'TIL THE CASKET DROPS - Clipse. This is one of the albums I was looking foward to ALL YEAR and it didn't disappoint me. Every song was dope. I liked "Kinda Like A Big Deal" ft. KanYe West because everyone on the track killed it. And "Popular Demand (Popeyes)" was amazing. The whole vibe to the track was dope.

8.) LOVE VS. MONEY - The-Dream. This album was great. He really did he thing. The songs were relatable and they were very good. The production was awesome. I can't pinpoint my favorite song because I listen to them all equally because they are ILL.

7.) LOSO'S WAY - Fabolous. This is probably the best album Fabolous has ever dropped. Every song was amazing. The production was great and the lyrics were out of this world. "When The Money Goes" was dope. Like I couldn't believe how great the album was when I first heard it.

6.) TRANSITION - Ryan Leslie. It's Ryan Leslie.. He's a genius. Come on..

5.) ATTENTION DEFICIT - Wale.  I expected this album to be great. After hearing all the songs that DIDN'T make it to the album. Mr. Folarin didn't disappoint. I LOVED IT.

4.) READY - Trey Songz. This is his greatest work.. Every song was amazing. I've listening to it many times and they are great songs to play. He has a great voice man...

3.) MAN ON THE MOON: The End of Day - Kid Cudi. This is like my soundtrack I could relate to what he was saying and every track was great. But "Hyyerr" ft. Chip Tha Ripper is amazing..

2.) SO FAR GONE - Drake. Technically this is an album since he released it in stores. =P

1.) THE BLUEPRINT 3 - Jay-Z. Do I really need to say anything about this album?

*Mixtape of the Week*

Enemy Of The State: A Love Story click here to download the mixtape!

This mixtape came out on Thanksgiving and I've been listening ever since. Matter of fact I'm listening to it now. I can't single out just one song on the mixtape because they were all great. He made the format of the tape like a vinyl. You can't skip songs. It's one continuous song. It's dope. The metaphores, the incredible wordplay and the instrumentals.

I'm glad to see someone from where I'm from make it to the top. Westside Chicago. Lupe definently did his thing on this mixtape and in 2010 you can expect the album from him which I expect to be amazing. He personally told me himself early 2010. So great things are gonna be happening from this guy in the future.

To: ____

She's damn near perfect. She's dope. She's ill.
She has nothing on. But her smile makes her dressed to kill.
Her eyes tell a story I'm waiting to read.
There you go. Is this a dream
You're much to beautiful to not be with me.

Nola Daaaarling.

Nola Darling - Step To Me.

this is dope. i found out about Nola Darling on a mixtape a while ago. with a bunch of upcoming artists called "Leaders Of the New Cool" I think. And they have in rotation ever since. Like their music sounds like poetry and they're talking about real ish. I love when female emcees or "femcees" can do their thing on a track.

Look out for Nola Darling in 2010 and beyond.

Amerie ft. Fabolous - More Than Love

I really like this song. I downloaded it a couple of weeks back. The video just gives a better visual for the song and that's what videos a should be. this is ILL. I loved the instrumental for the song and Fabolous did his thing on the track.. "Trust me... I don't even trust me" ... DOPE.

And I LOVE Amerie... Like honestly.. She's amazing and gorgeous.. I love her. lol.

Something

girls are like buses. miss one in the next 15, one coming.

haha, quoting gucci mane.. it's 5:01 am. I'm up listening to So Far Gone. Man, this is like the MdB soundtrack. Every word relates to me in some way. It's crazy.

As I go through the thoughts in my mind. They come back to three things. H.E.R., Writing music, and doing something great. I feel as if I've been so inadequate. I feel like I'm missing out on something. Like I feel like I've just been coasting through life. I know I'm not the freshest, but I could be. I'm not the smartest, but I could be. I'm not the strongest, but I could be. All these shoulda, coulda, woulda are gonna become reality. I am going to change my mindset in 2010.

I need to do this for myself and become a better Marcus. Nobody likes a loser my mom always tells me.. So I guess I have to become the opposite of a loser and become a winner.

I want to be Everybody's Somebody.

and this girl on my mind is crazy.. she's so beautiful.. I swear, I can't wait to look into her eyes.. And look into her heart. And tell her I'm the one because I wanna take it slow with her and be her man for a while.. So, let me slow my roll. Slow and steady wins the race.

*Mixtape Of The Week*

I like this mixtape.. A lot. It's in heavy rotation in my playlist. My favorite tracks are "On Tha Pill", "Weekend", "The Thrill", "Miles" and "One Way". See those are a lot of favorites. I don't usually
fall in love with mixtapes.. But yo, this is ILL!! I 100% support this dude.

I've been a fan of his since that "Say Yeah" single but after that I was just like "eh, ok. here's another one of "those" rappers". But he is sick on this mixtape. And his album wasn't a dissapointment. Look out for Wiz in 2010

Boyz N The Hood ain't nothing but trouble..

this is one of my favorite pictures ever. (via Bryan Espirtu of the Legends League)

He's a real talented guy from the Toronto area.

But anyway. I'm just over here thinking random thoughts. I finally told this girl I liked how I felt. She had no clue I liked her. I'm glad she didn't.  But idk where its going with her but most likely toward the FZ.

FZ = Friend Zone.. We know how that goes.. You wanna be with someone but they just wanna be "friends" and you remain in the FZ.

It's all good though. Christmas is almost here. And I have 1 gift bought.. I need to get like 192382388394738473487 gifts.. My family is gift greedy at christmas time. :\ smh.

But it's all good because I get to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles at the same time.. I cherish moments like those because we never know when we will have them again.

Come Winter

"Strolling in the park... And watching Winter turn to Spring"

I hate winter.. The only good things about it is Christmas and my birthday.

Although I do like the styles that come out in winter. Being in Chicago I hate the cold weather. It suuuucks. I wish it was summer again. Because it was decently hot. And I miss good weather.

LEMONADE... BURR!

This beat goes so hard on this song. Like I'm not the biggest Gucci Mane fan. But I gotta give props. The beat and the hook on this is ridiculous. And I like the yellow and the big breasted women in the vid ;).

BUUUUURRRRR!

50.

I like this video.. And this song is very solid. I like the lyrics.. A lot.

Sydney

I'm soooo tired of girls addressing me as a friend. Or I'm a really good friend. Or that's all we can be. I don't need another homie. I got enough friends.

maybe I just fall too fast for the poison these women offer me..

What Women Want

I've been talking to some girls women about what they want in a man. And I've come across some interesting point of views. Such as

"someone i can just legitimately hold a conversation with. someone who has something to talk about. any guy thats loyal i guess. lol guys always front like OMG GIRLS SO CONFUSING but girls really arent all that complicated. we just want your attention."

"GIRLS ALSO WANT A GUY WHO IS STRAIGHT FORWARD. no game playing or playing hard to get, thats us ladies jobs"

"I like dude being themselves, have style, funny, can make me laugh, fun, smart, has a job, sweet, kind."

"I want a man that is honest"

"looks. im big on appearence. if he isnt fly, or gorgeous ... i wont look twice"

"to be honest what i like in a guy is a complex thing not somthing that cant be explained."

Most women want different things depending on who you talk to. But the reoccuring answers were "being themselves" and "honesty"

Some girls try to change some dudes from being themselves. and when you ask "do I look fat in this?" should we be honest? NO.

But I wanted to show the contrast in what women went for.. If all women meant what they said what they wanted they would have their ideaLL guy. But, some are confused. And I'm just here thinking.. I have most of these traits. And I could definitely fix a few.. But, most men are what women want.. They just don't mean what they say and they trick themselves out of going for the right man. They always end back up with "Mr. Yeah" or the typical douche they that always hurt them.. But after all this.. I still don't know what women want.

YM - Bedrock

Young Money... I'mma be honest.. If Drake wasn't in YM I wouldn't give this label much of a chance but eh.. I like the song.. Of course Drizzy is my favorite part. The Tyga Tyga. <--- His mixtape is NICE btw.

But it was a solid song. And it is much better than the "Every Girl" video. So yeah, enjoy!

CM, YM!

Thicki Minaj

Nicki Minaj is at the top of the game as far as female rappers go. Like her, Love her or Hate her. You're still saying her name. I didn't really like her until I was riding down to my sister's school and all she did was play Nicki Minaj. So I caught on and got hip to the shit.

She's controversial. Sexy and her a nice voice for a female rapper. Kinda like Lil Kim meets Foxy Brown which would be my ideaLL female emcee.

And her freestyle at the BET Hip-Hop Awards was FIRE.

*Mixtape of the Week*

Click here to download the mixtape!

This mixtape is ILL. My favorite tracks on it are "Fly Away" ft. Karina Pasian and "Laid Back".

I didn't know Diggy Simmons had this much talent. You wouldn't expect much from a 14 year old Richie Rich type kid. But he throws it down. And proved me wrong. I'm looking foward to his future projects.

"I'll take you to a island. He can't even buy you sand"

I love how most of these girls say they deserve the best. But yet they stay in dead end relationships. Their boyfriend doesn't care about them. But these women are lost in love. He doesn't really love you if he's playing games. If he'd rather smoke, or drink or do some other activity over spending quality time with you, you're stuuuupid for staying with this guy. This is how I see it, if you're in a relationship, Family, HER, friends.  That's how it goes. You should never ever put money over your relationship. or any other bad things. like drugs, etc, etc. If he isn't trying to please you then why are you with him. And then he cops an attitude with you and he bad mouths you. What is it gonna take for you to see that maybe he doesn't love you as much as you thought.

He takes you out.. And you end up paying. He causes drama. And you're still with him.

If your man don't treat you right, there are always other men out there who are willing to. I'll take you to an island and he can't even buy you sand..

That's all I'm gonna say..
